6/13/2010 ~ Today I visited The Fort Walton Beach, FL Assembly of God Congregation.
It was children's day at the Fort Walton Beach, Florida Assembly of God Evangelistic Center and the kids scampered about the pews at one point taking up an extra offering.
Attendance was generally down with the summer schedule and there were about fifty parishioners present all-told. The folks there were very friendly and I found myself shaking hands during the "Meet 'n Greet" with a number of parishioners who had already said hello before the service! One lady came up to me, declined to shake my hand, and then gave me an enthusiastic hug! She explained that she had struggled to abandon all lukewarm greetings and now hugged everyone to demonstrate her Christian Love!
Senior Pastor David Beiler III who conducted the service, came around to say hello beforehand and at that point I had an opportunity to give him my hand-out envelope. (Thank you, sir).
There was a spirited spaghetti-social Fellowship which I was invited to join after the service. There I met other parishioners including a lady whom I knew from one of the local Tea-Party meetings.
This congregation was very patriotic and the fellowship area featured a display of photos of the military parishioners deployed abroad.

THE MESSAGE: "A new anointing for a new reality."
(A summary, adapted & edited from the sermon given 6/13/2010 by Senior Pastor David Beiler III; referencing 1 John 2:27, etc.)
We are experiencing a paradigm shift. Our nation is facing severe challenges. To combat them we need "Anointing." 1 John 2:27 speaks of this "Anointing." If you have experienced it, you know it. When you have been received into God's Kingdom, anointing is performed so that the "anointed" one can accomplish something for God.
When God was looking for a helper in the Old Testament, he went through the sons of Jesse and found none of them acceptable. But then the shepherd son was brought in, and God found exactly what He wanted in "King David!" David was the one accepted to make the paradigm shift. So he became the "anointed one."
Today, we too face a sudden change in our society. It's a paradigm shift. I don't pretend to know all the details; but we need God's anointed people to meet the challenge. We can't meet the need without anointing. Look at verse 18 in 1 John 2 - It gives us a warning against the antichrist. He has been there since the beginning of the world. Today there are many antichrists, so we know it is "The last hour." But you have an anointing from The Holy One; and so you know the truth. You, the anointed, focus on what's real and not on the counterfeit. Remember that God is real today and is still among us.
Anointing is THE PRESENCE OF GOD UPON US. John speaks of things happening because of the presence of God. Today, there is an even greater need for God's anointing than ever before. Today we need a new anointing for a new reality. There are countries in the world where you can't serve the Lord openly, worship or make converts. This is still legal in America. But I believe we need to make a stand to keep it that way before it is too late. These freedoms are not secure. This is where anointing is important, for it cuts through all governmental action.
Today we need a fresh anointing; not the anointing of your granddad or dad; but our very own. Because you see, anointing is a present tense word. Anointing in 2010 has to be a fresh anointing, individually and collectively. We don't live in the same world we lived in during the '70s say. So don't put new wine in old skins; have a fresh anointing! Every generation needs its own anointing to accomplish God's work in people's lives, to capture the knowledge of God's reality and the presence of the Holy Spirit in their lives. Things change, but Jesus Christ is the same forever. And His fresh anointing is gravely needed so that we may know the truth. By anointing we can discern imposters, know the truth of God and detect the lies of the devil.
When God calls a believer and gives him a new anointing, that person has a chance to serve God. And words are important. When words are connected with faith, (that is, spoken by someone anointed) powerful things can happen. (1 John 5:14 & 15; John Chap. 5, John 8:27). See also John 8:30 - "After He spoke these words, many placed faith in God." They would never be the same. There was a new anointing. John 8: 27 - "I spoke what the Father has told me." (V. 32) "... the truth will set you free." At these times Jesus was in the presence of the Father; He was anointed; and His words spoken in faith had a powerful effect. You too, to be effective for God, need to be in the presence of God. (You need to be anointed).
Today we are in a new world, facing a new reality ... look at all the natural disasters we face!
To serve God at this time -- even if the world should fall apart -- we must have a new anointing. We need the power of God.
And remember: "Friday's anointing" will not follow me here today on Sunday. We need it anew. We must be in the presence of God constantly and unceasingly; newly anointed. For God's work will only be done with a new anointing. So seek Him until you feel His presence. Then work for Him.
And if you need a new anointing, just ask God!
